Why is breathing important?
What happens is this: cells need to break apart the sugar to get the energy out of it. Without oxygen around they can only break it down only so far but there is still most of the energy contained in it. When oxygen is present, the sugar can be broken apart all the way (into carbon dioxide and hydrogen atoms). You breath out the carbon dioxide and the hydrogens are de-energized (the cells get the energy) and then attached to oxygen atoms to produce water. This whole process is called "cellular respiration"
oxygen in your blood, oxygens needed to perform most life functions. cells need it to survive. youd be dead without it
