Why do questions that offend christianity get deleted, but not the questions offending muslims and atheists?

Doesn't it seem unfair? why shouldn't it be either all of the offending questions be deleted or non deleted at all? Are christians controlling the Yahoo Answers?

Christians seem to be more consistent with their reporting of things they don't like.
Thin skinned perhaps.

Atheists tend not to be whiners and overly sensitive when questioned about their stance.

Fundies work in forces, atheists, have thicker skins, and are more mature about it.

There have been loads of deleted questions offending atheists and muslims...but the christian ones are more likely to be deleted...

That is absolutely untrue. I see that most questions aimed at Muslims get deleted faster than any towards Christians or atheists.

I've seen plenty of offensive questions toward atheists get deleted. Personally, unless the questions are completely wasteful, I welcome the opportunity to educate the ignorant.

I have had my fair share of reportations by atheists... its not all one sided as much as you would like to make it.

All it comes down to is that Christians have some of the weakest faiths of all religions. If there faith was strong it wouldn't matter what anyone said because THEY believe. But it doesn't go down like that. If you bash a christian they get scared that another christian might see it and see all the holes and cracks in christian logic. Without science christianity is easy to sell. When you know that the earth is billions of years old not thousands everything else starts to fall apart. Also most atheist, agnostics, muslims, satanists, jews, etc. don't care about what people on yahoo answers say because we believe everyone is entitled to an opinion. Even if it does go against mine.

Its usually the other way around.

No, I assure you, Christians have no say with yahoo.

Because most people, not necessarily of a certain faith, can dish it out all day but will flip out if you treat them the way they treat other people.

It depends on the type of question. Not base on one's background but on the policy of what constitutes stated in the privacy policy of Yahoo Inc.

I have had numorous questions or answers deleted because I talked about muslims or atheists...you just don't notice them as much! :)

Many times I have asked the same question - of YAHOO itself, too. But all I ever got was some automated replying that said - in effect - that THEY were right and I was wrong, and that's the way it was going to be.

So, the answer is that there is no answer - at least none that I am aware of. Yes, it's unfair, and yes, the same rules should apply to everyone, but the truth of the matter is: Neither a question nor an answer gets deleted by Yahoo unless someone complains about said question or answer.

And the real truth there is:

CHRISTIANS are the ones who do the most complaining - at least in my experience; I have never had a question or answer deleted EXCEPT because some Christian complained about it - and what's the biggest shame there is that I myself am a Christian.

But, Christians and the ones who are the most "offended" by what someone else says. And this usually happens because someone who belongs to some different sect of Christianity than they do says something about their own sect that the complainer takes "offense" to, and takes personally, rather than allowing people to express their own views and have their own opinions - the way that true Christians should.

(As an aside: They probably are responsible for all of the thumbs down to THIS answer, too. I have never in my life experienced such animosity that many "Christians" have - even for one of their own - as I have since I have decided to let the BIBLE be my guide instead of the Church.)

So, the answer to your last question is:

Yes: Although they do not necessarily physically control what gets deleted (i.e. probably are not the ones at Yahoo who actually press the "delete" button), Christians DO control the R&S category of Yahoo Answers - and maybe other categories, too.

First: I want to say that I stand corrected. I DID have a question deleted because someone thought that I was attacking the New England Patriots; I wasn't, but the same principle can be applied here, too - in this case because an over-zealous Patriots' fan took "offense" to a question that was not even asked of him, but of Pittsburgh Steelers' fans.

But yes, other questions and answers get deleted, too. However, people see what they want to see, and if you will read the question the way that it is worded, it does not ask about Christian questions, but questions that offend Christians. Big difference there.

(And, the same as the Patriots' fan who had my STEELERS question deleted: What are CHRISTIANS doing even looking at ATHEIST questions - let alone being "offended" by them?)

Thus, the basic truth that Christians are the ones who get the most offended still applies, because they are the ones who MOST OFTEN (I'm not saying that others don't, too) wear blinders to anything that does not agree with what they believe - regardless of who is asking the question.

It is a basic human trait that if you cannot adequately and logically refute the message, that you resort to attacking the messenger. In my experience, it has been the self-professing "Christians" who have perfected this into an art form. Thus, if they can get the "offending" question and/or answer removed, in their minds they are just as "right" as if they successfully refuted the message in the first place.

Probably because the Christians read my answer. Often times questions are deleted very soon after I answer.

There are just more Christian a$$ holes out there than any other bunch of a$$ holes. I am Christian but am very liberal, esp on YA...and I have had plenty of Christians report me...I don't like to use the report option, if I don't like something to the point that I would report it, I just ignore it instead.

Because we (muslims) and atheists are alike in the way of seeing the corrupted way of so called Christianity. This is not what Jesus tauhgt and they realize when we knock some sense into them, then the only choice is to get the question deleted, so they can pretend the issue does not exist.

Just lasst week they made the opposite complaint!

It's a good thing your assumptions are not considered reality, cuz that is not what actually happens.

Atheists claim to be non-religious, they hypocritically come to this site with the intention to insult and plunder.

From what I've seen in Yahoo groups, the policy seems to be that if anyone complains, and the item in question *seems* to have even the *possibility* of being *slightly* offensive, Yahoo goes ahead and zaps it. So it's probably just that more Christians are complaining than others.

I think atheists must report less often. We tend to welcome the chance to dispel myths and speak up.
That said, it is impossible to know how many and what sort of questions are deleted here each day.

I'm arguing one with YA staff right now.

I gave a respectful answer to an insulting question the other day, which of course, the Christians reported.

I'm awaiting the response from Yamster. I asked exactly what guideline they say I crossed. I'll bet you no answer will be forthcoming.
