Why do atheists get mad at Christians when they speak about God, but atheists can say what they want?

  • I don't understand why atheists get so offended when a Christian will talk about God, the Bible, or anything pertaining to either, but an atheist can say whatever they want about why they believe, or don't believe, and its perfectly fine. Please explain it to me.

    Pointing out where you are wrong is not "getting mad". It's correcting your mistake.

  • Because if people were going on about something that you think that is false and they been manipulated its just something you don't want to hear. like my grandma and my aunty's are all christian and they go on and on about how god has blessed them and how he has helped them. When it was really my mum that helped not god and they never thanked her all I'm trying to say is they think life is all about god and that's all, it gets a bit annoying. They also always go on about how I should accept god and Jesus and not continue on this path to hell. Or that i am doing an evil thing by playing video game or i am evil because I don't go to church. You see how that could get annoying...


  • i have never met an atheist who gets mad at christians for talking about their god.

    additionally, i cant think of a REASON why an atheist would get angry at a christian for talking about their god.

    the only way i can think of an atheist getting angry would be if the christian is badgering them about why they dont beleive in god. basically a christian being annoying and bothering an atheist.

    ive been an atheist for a while now and i have yet to ever get angry at a christian simply because they speak upon the topic.

    unless you give an example (perhaps a link to a message board) your claims are pointless and unsubstantiated.

    oh and by the way, debating you on why you beleive your beleifs to be true does not count as debate. disagreeing with you does not imply anger towards you.

  • Because some can't handle the truth.

    Although, most are ok, and quite accepting towards our differing beliefs.
    It's nice to debate sometimes! It keeps our faith strong!

  • Who knows, maybe they are bored with being Atheists.
    Maybe it's apart of there belief code or whatever they call their system.

    Maybe the Truth Hurts,
    Maybe they tell themselves... 'The Devil Made Me Do It'.

    Mayeb they or some are curious and they are Atheists by peer pressure or thats all they know.
    It's best to as the Bible teaches to be 'Civil to Strangers'.


  • There should be a balance.

    Sometimes, religious perversion is practiced. In my case, I would most definitely overwhelm them (religious ones) to a certain degree that they wish they never did it to me.

    But, atheists, who claim they are open-minded and want to enjoy life to the fullest and utmost freedom, should be respectful of others and refrain from being "Mr. Know-it-all" (and not to take things at their discretion). Otherwise, they are going to lose ground.

    Why they did it? Number one reason could be that they were victims of religion. Rather than losing ground, the atheists should be assertive and overwhelm others with reasonable debates.


  • well thats from your experience but not all people are like that. personally when a christian talks about their beliefs i dont mind unless their trying to convert me. i dont tell people what i really think about it because i might end up upsetting them. from MY experience christians are always very touchy about anyone who doesnt believe the same as they do

    We DO get mad when you try to shove it down our throats in public, it makes us feel uncomfortable as if we're being harrassed.

    I'd love to do a study on the ratio of ACLU memberships - Christians vs. athiests. Many don't much care to promote free speech. Not unlike the religious zealots. The most vocal about their own rights are usually the worst at assuring the freedoms of others.

    Here, it's more an attempt to tease. Some of it is actually funny.

    I really don't care that you want to talk about your god. That's very nice for you. But don't go trying to change education, science or laws, or trying to justify terrible behaviour because of what you believe. THAT is when I get "offended".


  • We don't get angry when you talk about your god, we get angry when you refuse to shut up once it's clear that we're not interested in being converted. We have to sit and listen when people talk in general terms about God all the time. About the only time we have any say in the matter at all is when you've buttonholed one of us and won't shut up about how we need to hear about Jesus.

    Why is it that Christians get so offended when atheists talk about the Bible? Now, that's practically guaranteed to make steam come out of ears.

    Christian: If you do not accept Christ as your saviour you will go to hell, do you really want to go to hell>??? please accept Jesus...I dont wnat you to go to hell.

    Atheist: shut the heck up! I dont want to hear about your god!
