Why do atheists come here if they do not believe in God?

  • If atheists believe in nothing and they come to the religion section of YA! and they talk about God does that mean that they really believe in God if they don't then why are they here eating bananas while we need to obviously only talk about God with people who believe exactly like we do so we can maintain the financial integrity of our religious inclination with drink that tastes like bananas?

  • It's part of the society and culture section, and last I checked they were members of both

  • ** drink **

  • It does put a damper on our desires to just concentrate on issues like this, but there are good reasons to have atheists.

    1. Nice atheists and agnostics will have honest questions for religious people, regarding what they believe. I have see quite a few "How do I become a Christian" questions which is encouraging.

    2. These hard questions actually make it easier to ground ourselves into our religious beliefs. I know as a Christian that although the questions that are asked are sarcastic, demeaning, and meant to be answered to extremely high standards, they help me understand Christianity better.

So instead of hurting us, well...thanks atheists! I mean that without sarcasm by the way. Seriously thanks. Some of you have really made me think in ways I've never thought of before.

  • you're wrong

first of all atheism is not about NOT believing in God, because just to believe that there is no God is a belief itself, so there cannot be any true atheist.

atheists believe that no supernatural power condemns and controls our lives.

It doesn't only exclusively include God, it also includes the multitude of beliefs on earth today.

Besides, this is an open, public forum, if YOU don't like it, you create your own private christian forums, and not on the internet, that's like the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of because anyone can act like a christian, anyone can make themselves out to be whatever they want on the internet. Do that at your church or temple or mosque.

  • good point

    *vanishes*

  • Because most athiests are really agnostics who just don't know for sure and they are seeking answers from others who might know. When it comes time to face death, everything changes. Suddenly the idea of God makes sense. When we die, and we chose God.... then we are ready to meet Him, but if we chose athiesm...we loose. But if we are athiest and we die....what do they loose? They are not sure...

  • The same reason vegetarians go to McDonald's for the fries.

  • I just come to the religion section for laughs especially from the religious people.I find the atheists' witty remarks hilarious because they're so right.I am an Agnostic though

  • We have every right to be here.

There's more than one god, there are other religions you know. This section is not just for your god.

    You are a fascist.

  • Mike Huckabee, who actually won a few states in the republican primaries said this: "I believe it's a lot easier to change the constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God, and that's what we need to do is to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards"

That is some seriously scary crap. That's some Ayatollah sh_t right there.

And people wonder why atheists care about religion. Sheesh!

  • To masturbate to people in sexy superhero costumes.

Or am I the only one who comes here for that?

  • because they are really christian wanna be's..they also like to tell others how they dont like God or the Bible or Christianity

  • They come here because they like to debate and mock other's beliefs.

  • Because the Spirituality part not religion.

One can be an atheist and believe in spirituality.

  • Who says we believe in nothing? You should do more research into atheism. A simple wiki search would be a good start....

I come here because I'm interested in religion, and R&S fuels my interest. Why do YOU come here? To have your baseless beliefs reinforced by others with the same beliefs? That's sad! Stick around, you might learn something.

  • That banana fetish you have is a tell-tale sign. They come to read the entertaining responses to your questions.

  • Sigh...

    1. the site is religion and spirituality, not "belief in invisible sky fairies"

    2. Atheists believe in lots of things. Just not the aforementioned invisible sky fairies.

    3. What is your problem with bananas?

  • Look, don't provoke me to drink. I have only rootbeer schnapps left. It hardly qualifies as a real drink!!!!

  • Oh look - another fallacy. The ONLY thing atheists don't believe in is gods. They believe in a great deal of other things, dear.

Nice exclusionary system you have there - and here I read and understood that part of your mission as a Christian is to spread the good word of god. Can't exactly do that if you're only talking to people who already believe as you do, can you?

Enjoy your banana drinks and financial integrity and your trolling.

  • As much as I would hate to bankrupt the financial integrity of your religious inclination, I recommend drinks that taste like spinach.

  • For people referring to spiritual as in Buddhism stating they are athiests, you should know that a true buddhist is agnostic, not atheist.

  • Nobody asks questions directed only at Atheists in the Consumer Electronics section, so we have to come here for that. Thanks for asking yet another one.

  • lol "financial integrity of our religious inclination"

  • Actually I think we're the reason you're here.

After all, you're the one asking the question...

  • >Why do atheists come here if they do not believe in God?

Because, even though we don't have any religion of our own, we still care about religion, we care about what it's doing to our world and the people in it.

    >If atheists believe in nothing

There's a difference between 'not believing in God' and 'believing in nothing'. Please learn it before attempting to argue further on the subject of how atheists think or what atheist motives are.

    >does that mean that they really believe in God

No. I mean, lots of christians talk about homosexuality a lot, but does that mean they're really homosexual? No, of course not. It's the same thing with us atheists.

  • Religion and Spirituality isn't only about God. It is arrogant to think otherwise.

If I were interested in Religion and Spirituality, where would I go? Cats?

  • ok quick lesson for you,
Atheists believe there is no god meaning that we believe in someting.
I'm here to debate my points and argue against religion.

    Is that a crime?

anyway when i get bored of being told i'm going to hell i go to the science and maths forums.

  • Pick a reason:

    This is an open forum.

    Atheists can still be religious.

    Atheists can still be spiritual.

Spiritual and religious things still affect atheists.

  • Well actually I'm eating tacos, but now I'll drink too. I think a margarita goes better with tacos then some banana drink...don't you think so?

  • It's humorous

  • For the tuna casserole recipes.

    Or, banana-drink recipes...
