outpost doesn´t start

  • i installed outpost some days ago but i can´t start the program. everytime y try it shuts down immediatly (had the same problem with zonealarm :hop: ) and my antivirus-program (antivir-xp) can´t find anything

  • In addition, to the above. Please remove ZA according to the instructions at their site. It can be a bit tricky:

    Also please make sure that all programs are turned off, including your antivirus, when you are installing OP or any other program for that matter.

    But don't go on the Internet without a firewall on. Turn on the XP one and then turn it off to install OP.

  • i set back my system with rosecitysoftware for some days (to this i have to say that I formatted my system last weekend, so that i installed outpost on a more or less"virginious" drive) and now it works

    If you have a good registry cleaner, give your system a clean. If you don't, try Registry First Aid http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/reg1aid/
    shareware & good for a short while.

    After the cleanup, reboot your system and reload Outpost. Make sure no other firewall is running and that includes the inbuilt one for Windows XP. Reinstall Outpost and see if that works.

    It's a start. Can't guarantee sucess but it should pave the way for those with more grey matter cells than I if things still don't work.

  • Thank you. Sometimes a reformat is much quicker then resolving the actual problem. This would be a good time to image your system with something like Drive Image. Everything is working now and with a good image you can restore your system drive in a matter of minutes should anything else go wrong in the future.
