Outpost 2 Pro, ICS down, transit packets
This is NOT the "restart/apply button" problem. Outpost is blocking "transit packets" no matter wgat I do. I created a general DNS rule and another rule to permit TCP from the client machine.
In LAN settings, I disabled autodetection, and added the client's IP number (192.168.0.2/255.255.255.0) as trusted. I also added the client's IP to the IgnoreHosts section in protect.lst.
Is there anything else I can do?
(Both the ICS host and the client are running Win2K SP3).
Thanks in advance for any tips,

Welcome to the forums. :)
First, since you only have one client, change the subnet mask from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.255.255.
It sounds like you have tried to do your reading and follow the directions. I knew of a few items that may have helped with people having problems with ICS and Transit Packets. And, it seems that you have tried them all. The only thing that I can do is reference you to some threads that cover the subject.
Block Transit Packets (http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8745)
Outpost Firewall Rules Processing Order (http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8394)
LAN and DNS Settings for V2 (http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7338)
Transit Packet Hell (http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8612)
ICS give up (http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8258)
If the information cannot be obtained in those threads to get this setup working, then I believe that the best option is to submit a bug report to Agnitum through this link:
Agnitum Outpost Online Support Form (http://www.agnitum.com/support/supportform.html)
I hope that you find some information in those threads to help.
Have a good day. :)
Sorry to hear that you are still having difficulties.
1. How are you currently sharing? NetBIOS, NetBEUI?
2. You may want to try NetBEUI and stop NetBIOS. NetBEUI is a little safer for small or home networks anyway.
3. Do your logs still make reference to transit packets?
4. And, have you considered a hardware router. They are simple to setup, provide an added layer of protection, and the best part is that ICS will not be required.
Have a good day. :)
Not only that, but with Outpost running I lose the ability to see the two comuters on the LAN. The host computer (the one with Outpost running, serving as gateway for the client) doesn't even see itself in the network neighborhood, let alone the other machine. I have a path to a shared folder on the client deined in Network places, and can access this folder without a problem. But when trying to browse "Computers near me", I get "List of servers for this workgroup is not currently available".
I've tried Google some more, but my settings are OK (not changed since the time the stuff worked fine). This particular error seems to affectpeople on XP with ICF enabled, but I''m using win2K and don't have ICF.
Just shutting down Outpost didn't rectify this problem, but after uninstalling the firewall, I could immediately see both computers again in the network neighborhood - even before I rebooted.
I'm not sure if this is strictly a problem with Outpost, though. I've now installed Sygate (also the trial version) and the network neighborhood problem reappeared, even though Sygate has explicit options for allowing computer browsing and other LAN traffic. OTOH, Kerio never had an issue with it. Is there something in the LAN configuration on the Windows side that I could try?

Thanks for taking such an understanding position and making the extra effort in this case. That is much appreciated. I really hope that starting out again will help. Please keep us advised of your progress. We are very interested in these ICS related issues.
Have a good day. :)
One additional thing to note is that disabling all plugins didn't help, so it's an issue with the standard rules. (Isn't there a way to configure the transit packets rule in the first place?)
