On a scale of 1 to 10, how irritating is it to hear people asking why atheists are here on R&S to begin with?

  • I really can't think of any other category atheists are supposed to go to on Y!A.


  • Forgive the poor Christians, they think this is their category. They're also sort of slow, in general.


  • I rate 10 if 10 is the most irritating.

    It's funny how irritated christians get. I think it's cuz deep down they know they are open to ridicule for their beliefs.

    I think that they enjoy mouthing off the Christians...
    Of course, though, there are some good atheists out there who don't just try to put down every good question asked in this section...I have nothing against the respectful atheists, it's just the ones with no respect who annoy me.
    And they could go to any of the other categories on Y!A.


  • Well, since atheists by nature claim to not practice religion then they could go to the philosophy section or the general cultural section. Why anyone who claims to hate religion and/or God would chose to hang out and ask religious/God questions in this section just doesn't make practical sense. It's like saying you hate football but yet you buy season tickets and attend all the games. It's hypocritical.


  • ATHEIST - someone who does not believe in a God â “ any God â “ not just the Christian one.. But that does not mean they do not hold strong moral or religious beliefs! They can follow any religion that does not have a god and there are a lot of those!!

    So those that follow other religions are obviously in the right place! If Christians cannot stand non believers they should leave and respect freedom of speech!

    Sadly Christians seem to seek to stifle freedom of speech. they will be banning freedom of speech and burning books given the chance.

    Thank goodness for atheists and all the other religions it gives us a chance to talk and socialize with civilized and intelligent people!!!

    I don't see why people get offended that there are atheists on a religious site. It's kind of fun chatting it up with the atheists. Plus, it livens up the place ;-)

    I don't appreciate the rude comments from atheists, but I also don't appreciate the rude comments from Christians either.

    Use the bantor as a chance to grow in your faith and love of God.

  • I would say it is just as irritating as a Christian always being asked or told that Jesus might have been gay, or that a Christians religion is a delusional fairy tale.

    Atheists are welcome here in my book. I just wish we all could be considerate of one another.

    Edit: You see OK above me? That is what Im talking about, and there are many more where he came from.

  • Not at all. It seems much more like desperation than anything else. I take it as one of many indications of when someone is just too weak to take opinions different than their own. Blocking people is another sign of weak desperation.

    This is 'religion', not 'religious'.

    Same as the 'politics' section isn't just for presidents, prime ministers, governors, hucksters, organised criminals or secretaries of state.

    More amusing still as it is only those of the Christian religion that complain about atheists being here.

    More amusing STILL that so many Christians claim that Christianity isn't a religion, but a 'relationship'.

    There is a section for relationships...

  • 8. It is irritating but someone needs to inform the ignorant. Besides if there were some type of category designed for Atheist I'm pretty sure we would see overwelming nubmers of Christians and other religious people.


  • The longer you've been here, the higher that number goes.
    Some of us actually DO have something to offer. Have you seen the number of atheists with "top contributor" badges?


  • I ask the same question myself. It's kinda like a blind person signing up to be a judge in a photo contest. Why?? Why don't they try Mythology and Folklore. As it is they're always calling Christianity a myth. Oh I get it, they are lost and think they are on the mythology site.
    What I really hate is when a person is genuinely seeking and asking a serious question and gets flippant and ignorant answers to their questions. That should not be allowed. I'm sure glad you don't have to pay for this service.
