Manual vs auto shift?

Manual vs auto shift?

I want a manual car but there are so many automatics out there i'm bound to see many better deals, plus i like grand nationals and Monte Carlos. my question is: is have a ratchet/shift kit in an auto as fun to drive as a manual? and whats the pros and cons of each. if i go auto i'm getting a TH350 or 400 trans

Additional Details

well everyone says auto get way better starts yeah i heard 350s are a little better Manual is faster, but automatic is better in my opinion for cruising, but i like the ratchet shifter idea, i think it'd be just as fun as manual?
  • those are good cars. myself i like the grand national. if you go automatic get the 400 transmission, better then the 350.automatic is better in heavy traffic. you don,t have to keep shifting all the time. manuel is ok on the freeway.
  • Installed a turbo 350 into 89 camaro. Had to make a custom bracket for the torque arm. This car launched like it had all wheel drive. Not a fan of the 400 though.
  • I prefer both of them have a special ability for your car.
Manual- Like what other were saying, if you live on the cities or busy road. Its hard for you to shift the gear every 1 minute until you get out of the traffics.
Auto- Auto is good for the busiest cities u can just release your handbrake and kick your speed clutch. But auto wont go as much top speed like manual does, well it depend what car you got.

Btw, Manual gears can start faster (Acceleration) than auto vehicles, if you a good shifter.
  • Manual = Fun, Speed, Cheaper maintenance, Keeps you focused, Faster, More modifying options, Great skill to know, Not everyone can drive one.
Only Con is in Stop & Go traffic which can get irritating.

Auto = Boring, plus, anyone can drive an automatic.
