Latest Build issues

i am at a loss and have tried everything. i still cannot get this release to boot properly. i have done a fresh install, cleared out and deleted the old xbmc folder on my f: drive. cleared out the save game from the msdash. cleared out the appropriate folders from tdata & udata and deleted the old xboxmediacenter.xml and xbe file.

the system starts up, boots into xbmc, but quickly cuts off the default startup sound, never shows the startup logo, and there is no background or icons. just the text and all black.

i have followed the instructions and tutorials found here:

as you can see, the default skin and associated files cannot be found.

please advise what to do. this is killing me.

one item to note, xbmc was looking for some specific fonts:

no, they arent. you're probably mixing an older font.xml with a newer set of xpr fonts.

i downloaded what i thought was the newest project 2 skin but it didnt work so then i downloaded the right one from the makers website and thought it would fix the problem but im having no luck. any suggestions as to what is wrong. it booted up fine when installed and i wanted to change the skin back to project mayhem 2 but it said it was incompatible or something so i decided to download a newer version. i just need to reset it or something.

xbmc's skin engine is under constant development. the pm2 skin hasnt been updated in a while, and likely doesnt work anymore. alot of other skins will have the same problem. to switch back to the default, just delete all skins from the skin folder but project mayhem iii. xbmc uses this as the default when it cant find the last one you had selected.

thanks man. i was really frustrated with it so i just deleted xbmc off alltogether and then put it back on. that went ahead and delted the pm2 skin off as well. i seen somewhere where it said that the new build was back compat to versions 1.3 and i downloaded the v1.3 of pm2 but i guess it wasnt the real pm2 v1.3. but thanks anyway :fixed:

nothing mysterious here. you're missing the fonts and textures for the skin. you need to have:

f:\apps\xbmc\skin\project mayhem iii\fonts\*.xpr
f:\apps\xbmc\skin\project mayhem iii\media\textures.xpr
