Is Bicks Vaporub bad if you have asthma? ?

  • I have asthma for a year now and now i have a bad cough with a lot of mucus, i was reading the back of the vaporub label and it says " Ask a doctor if you have persistent or chronic cough such as occurs with smoking, Asthma or emphysema.

    if i use vaporub will it be bad for me because i have asthma? and any suggestions on what i should eat, drink or do to get rid of my cough? thanks!!!

    so my overall question is will it be bad for me?


  • Some people with asthma also have allergies, or they are just sensitive to the vapor rub fumes and it could cause an asthmatic reaction.

    Cough syrup wouldn't hurt, nor sucking on some Halls cough drops (that works the best for me).

    ... IDK what to tell you about the Vicks, I doubt you will have a reaction if you don't normally have reactions to stuff like that. I would call your doctor and ask if you have concerns, or do a little test spot on you (very small) and see if it has any effect on your breathing.

    Though I hear sometimes the vapor rub doesn't do anything to help alliveate asthma symptoms.


  • Not usually, try a little bit under your nose, maybe on your chin so it's not too close, if you don't have any trouble then it's fine to use on your chest.
