I am 14 and i want to learn to play the piano?!?

  • i am 14 and i want to learn to play the piano!!!! is it too late? if not... lessons? can i teach myself? where do i start?

  • Do you have a piano?
    That is where you start.
    You can practice by yourself.
Lessons are suggested so you can learn technique.
It is never too late to learn.
    So learn already.
    Hope this helps.

  • NO it's not too late , YES do take lessons please do yourself an incredible favor and learn to READ NOTATION.

  • It's definitely not too late to start. It's never too late. I took up the trumpet at age 17 and got on really well with it because I was that little bit older and found it much easier to pick up. My piano teacher has a lot of adult pupils. In fact most of my musician friends didn't start til they were 13/14. I would suggest that you decide what type of music you want to play whether it is classical or jazz and then find the appropriate teacher. I would also suggest that you do a some research and find a good teacher bearing in mind that the most expensive isn't necessarily the best. If you start with a good teacher it will do wonders for you technique and general enthusiasm. I started with a bad piano teacher and had hated my lessons, I then changed and my teacher had to re-teach me everything pretty much and I now adore playing and love my lessons. Ask any musical friends that you have or go into a music shop and ask there if they know of any teachers.

  • Ok. Firstly, it's never too late.
I mean if you wanted to be a concert pianist by the time you're 16, it probably is. But I strongly suggest getting a teacher because if you teach yourself, you get into lots of bad habits and they are going to be things that you are doing wrong that only a proper pianist would notice and correct.
You want to get a teacher you get on with, or else it can just ruin everything and put you off it.

Decide what you want to be playing on the piano. It could be classical pieces or modern or even composition.
You teacher would probably have lots of advice on what to learn.

    Good luck :)
