I'm just curious why I see alot of questions on here from atheists who...?

  • pick apart verses of the Bible and post them on here when it's not in it's entire form. Verses that don't make sense without the whole paragraph or chapter. Anyway, what's the point in reading the Bible just to post things on here to try to sway christians. I don't study up one bit on satanism or any other kind of secular religion. Is it just boredom? I'm looking for a real answer although I'm sure there will be some rude people leaving nasty remarks. It's just a question and I AM curious to know.


  • Satanism doesn't actually exist, that would be why you don't study up on it.

    If it is the perfect words of god then it would not matter what parts I pick out the simple words would convey the message. Since they don't, then they are obviously not the words of god.


  • Many atheists were raised Christian and post the questions they couldn't resolve when they were believers. I know that many of the questions I see here are questions I had.


  • -The bible isn't the only book that has been "selectively quoted". Usually when a creationist uses Darwin to try and prove that even he had doubts about evolution, they only include part of the quote or they take it completely out of context, altering it's meaning.


  • What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
    But of course you cannot pick and choose what evidence you wish to consider, you have to consider it all.
    By the way, atheists do not belive in the existence of any god - do not confuse them with satanists or any other belief system - it is simply a lack of belief in gods.
    You may present verses as evidence for your belief as many christians do - out of context. Take the bible as a whole - read every word and absorb it, not just the bits your preacher emphasises but all the really nasty bits too. Analyse it and see what a bloodthirsty tale it is. That is not a doctrine that most rational people could accept. Fear is the key.


  • i really have no idea. it happens the other way too though. christians take apart bits of bible verses and claim it proves their points. faults are on both sides, im not going to deny that.


  • A couple things:
    Satanism is NOT secular. One has to believe in the whole Christian system to believe in Satan.
    You used the term "Secular Religion". Oxymoron.
    Those who try to denegrate the Bible are insecure in their atheism. They are unable to intelligently promote their beliefs, so they try to knock yours.
