My 7 year old Siberian Husky has been toilet trained since he was 10 weeks old. Now all of a sudden, he has been peeing inside the house. It cannot be anxiety since i am home with him. He has had several tests and nothing seems wrong with him. He usually does it when i go out but i am rarely out for more than an hour or 2 and i always pee him before i leave and as soon as i get back. He was crate trained as a puppy but now he has free run of the house. He never pees in the same place and does not always do it when i am out! Help! I am getting thoroughly frustrated!its a common thing, when dogs get older sometimes there bladder loosens and they cant hold it as long as they couldWow, a dog that pee's in the toilet. Incredible!!!!! put it down. Vet check.I had the same problem with my 2 year old dog, except he was pooping inside. I solved it by training him that he will get a treat if he pees and poops at a command(I used pooga). Now he scratches the door if he needs to go, because he wants to earn as many treats as he can! here's how to do it: when you can tell he is about to pee(outside) say "pooga! pooga! pooga!" and when he pees, give him his favorite treat and say" good boy, good pooga!" and if you do that every time you take him out for a week, he'll soon be asking to go out so he gets his treat. Hope this helps!Just because youre with your dog for most of the day doesn't mean it can't have seperation anxiety. This could be a reason for it really. You're there almost always. But then you leave him all alone! Even for 15 minutes! Of course he'll freak out.
Contact a behaviorist in your area. Seperation anxiety is a tough thing to handle. But it seems you're catching it early on so it's easier to stop it now than later. You have an older dog. There could still be a medical reason. If you've vet-checked, and there are no problems, I would go back to crating him. If you are only gone for a couple of hours at a time, your dog should have no problems spending them in a crate.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
