Help!! I Turned Left on A Red Light! ?

Ok, so here's the deal. I haven't been driving very long and I got confused between turning left or right on a red light. Unfortunately I turned left on red and quickly realized my mistake when all these cars kept honking at me. As a was driving home I noticed a Police car trailing me. He trailed me all the way down to the road that leads to my house but then suddenly dissapeared. Was he getting my liscense plate number or something? I thought it was strange that he didn't pull me over. He just followed me. That's all. I'm a little worried because I'm pretty sure he saw what happened. Thanks! no if he didnt pull you over youve got nothing to worry about. he probably followed you because of people honking at you, or maybe he thought he saw you run a red light but wasnt sure, and he was following you incase you do something else wrong.

oops...He was probably just checking to see if you had made a mistake or were drunk or something. I'm sure he would have pulled you over if he was going to give you a ticket. You got lucky!

He probably ran your license and realized you were a safe driver. He might have also made sure that you weren't drunk or anything.

Unless you recieve a letter in the mail you should be fine. Police officers are required to pull over law breakers and give them a ticket on the spot.

Following you doesn't mean anything. He was probably just giving you another chance to see if you did anything wrong. If you did, then he'll turn on the siren but if not then he'll probably let you go. Or chances are maybe he's taking the same route too? I've gotten pulled over before, and they asked for my license and car registration. I don't think they can just write your license plate down without asking for your documents. In my opinion you don't have to worry.

Turn in your driver's license, you are an accident waiting to happen. Seriously, and not trying to be mean; but you are going to kill someone, perhaps yourself.

So you turned left on a red in front of oncoming traffic?? (That's the only reason I can think of why people would honk at you) You have to yield to other traffic making a right on red, too. Were you paying any attention at all to your driving? Sounds like you could use some more lessons, not ready to drive by yourself yet...

Well Christina, even if you could turn left on a red light (which you can't) you would still have to wait until the way was clear to do so. If "All those cars kept honking" at you, obviously the way wasn't clear.

I'm glad you're worried, you should be. It may stop you from making another mistake. And remember, ignorance of a law is not an excuse to break it.
