Harddisk failure? How to check?
Recently XBMC started to behave really strangely:
1. When I select Films from the main menu, sometimes the screen goes black and stays that way. If I press the back button, I get back to the main menu. If select Films again, I may get to the films page. Alternatively I need to iterate this procedure a few times.
2. All movies I try to play just freezes the XMBC (the list of films still displayed but everything is frozen). Note that I have successfully played these movies on the XBMC before.
3. I still managed to play music from an SMB-mounted NAS HD.
4. I managed to download an "unplayable" video through FTP to my PC.
5. I tried to transfer some other files from my PC to the XBMC (the F-drive where I store the movies), but that transfer was a bit strange. The transfer sort of "choked" i.e. transferred a chunk of data, then waited for some seconds, then some more.
6. All of these problems started when I installed the 0507-build (7th of may). I tried to go back to the 0429 (29th of april) but the issues remained.
If I have a faulty HD, is there a way of doing a chkdisk or something directly on the Xbox, or would I need to mount it in my PC to do that?
Any ideas?
/Daniel
