  • I think they are both great shots, especially under that type of lighting condition... Im just as much a novice as you are, but one thing that will stay with me forever is this...

"It doesnt matter what kind of DSLR you use, or how many megapixels your camera has, its all about the lighting and the lens."

Its hard for me to put into words what I like about your photos, but just know that they are definitely great shots for a beginner. The color blends, the shadow cast, the reflections, the silhouettes... That camera you used sure is pulling its weight! Good eye.

  • thanks,
whats perspective? (i seriously know nothing about photography)

  • thanks guys, so for my first photos with a simple point and shoot camera(on Auto mode)
its not bad.im gonna try and take some more and post them up,i appreciate the help.

  • C&C per req:

Well, for someone who knows "nothing" about photography, I'd say that's a very nice first offering. Your exposures are good, and your horizons are straight. The dock in #1 doesn't do a lot for me. I think the rather large black area lower right detracts from a rather nice horizon/sunset scene. I very much like #2, but would suggest cropping some of the sky and a bit of the right RH edge to move the far shore above the centre of the horizon.

    Looking forward to seeing more.

Just my $00.02 worth - your milage may vary

  • thanks, now i understand what you are saying, i should of lowered the camera, i was leaning on my cars roof, trying not to get the antenna in the shot :) but next time i know
Yup, that would be perspective. I think photo #2 would have been great if you had gotten down th the level with the deck boards and shot down them with the woman sitting at the end.

  • The second pic would be wonderful had the horizon not been placed directly in the middle of the photograph and maybe a little lower perspective.
