Faulty Skin after Downgrading

  • Hi

I've recently upgraded my old version (I think this was 2.0) of XBMC to - 22.Aug.2007.XBMC.XBOX.MediaCenter.2.0.GasGiver - as I was having problems with some video files.

I didn't like the new layout of the MC360 skin, so I've decided to downgrade. The problem I have is, even though I have deleted the skins folder and used the original one, I am missing the 'Pictures' and 'Music' folders (they can still be accessed, but no have no writing on them) and many of the options in the System blade menus also have no writing though again they are selectable.

I have deleted the UDATA and TDATA XMBC files to no avail. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

    Thanks to all who reply

  • We only support T3CH builds. Throw that gasgiver trash out.

  • Never had a problem updating XBMC while it was running as long as its displaying a screen saver.

    Bleeding Edge > Stable. :)

  • In case anyone had the same problem, I have now repaired media centre. I completely deleted the media center from my XBMC folder, deleted the saves from UDATA and TDATA and installed version 2.0.1 - the T3CH build. Works excellently.

Two points I've learnt - never try to update XBMC when using XBMC as the FTP client to do so. Secondly, always use an official point release by T3CH - steer clear of SVN builds etc.

    Thanks for all the help

  • "steer clear of SVN builds etc. "

no .. steer clear of anything not built by T3CH .. i use a new SVN build every 2 weeks and they work great .. the newest version is sooooo much better than the 2.0.1 point release ..

  • It looks like you are using a recent compile for the xbe and trying to use an old skin (pm3 or XBMC360). If it were me, Id do a complete reinstall keeping only your sources.xml and advancedsettings intact from the user folder.

  • Q is a virtual drive that is created at startup. Once the system goes down it falls into the void.

  • Thanks, I'm going to try and do a fresh reinstall tomorrow with version 2.0.1 - as this is the last stable version, hopefully it will clear things up.

The only thing that worries me is that XBMC seems to be keeping a backup on the Q drive. I can't access this via FTP and would like to delete this at the same time to ensure I only have one version of XBMC on the box.

I'll let you know if this solves the problem in case this happens for anyone in the future...

  • since 2.0.0 and forward UDATA and TDATA is NEVER used by XBMC

  • nothing wrong with using the SVN builds (helps to be to the bleeding edge actually)
