Is there a free and easy way to convert WMA files into MP3 format? I
want to transfer some of the music on my PC to my PSP.It wont 'decrypt' because your WMA files are copy-protected then,
there are a couple ways to make this work:
If you have the original CD's, you will need to re-copy them onto your hard drive:
In Windows Media Player:
1) Insert the CD
2) On the tool bar select Tools > Options, choose the 'Rip Music' tab
3) Make sure the 'Copy protect music' box is unchecked
*Note that if you have the CD's, you can actually re-copy them in .mp3
format with WMP.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OR
If you don't have the original CD's, you will need Auxiliary Input tool:
1) First make sure you have the WMA codec installed (it will prompt you for this)
2) Download and install the Auxiliary Input here
http://web.archive.org/web/20041127014914/http://www.dbpoweramp.com/bin/dMC-Aux-Input.exe
3) Go to your start menu > Programs > dbPowerAmp Music Converter >
select dMC Auxiliary Input
4) Click options, I recommend checking both auto-start and auto-end boxes
5) Start playing a music file, and simultaneously with dMC Auxiliary
Input press Record. This program will record whatever sounds are
coming through your soundcard, so you can play music with WMP, Winamp,
or anything.
This will make your files .mp3 also, so there's no need to convert
again. This is a real time consuming task though, but I don't see any
other way to convert copy protected files. I hope this answers your
question!
-BrianDoes it happens with all the wma files or only one of them, probably
it is corrupted.Have you installed the WMA codec for dbPowerAmp?
Follow the below links:
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-wma.htm
and the codec central main page:
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central.htm
If this works please let me know.dbPowerAmp: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm - it's free for 30-days.
(It used to be completely freeware until licensing fees)
If you want free, I've found the older free version that is the
absolute best: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/bin/dMC-r10.exe
Hope this is your answer
-BrianI tried Auxillary Input but nothing happens when I click on Record. A
box just comes up saying 'Action: Conversion Complete' and '100%
Completed' and 'Conversion Completed in 0 seconds'.
What's wrong with this now?I tried the dbPowerAmp but when I try to convert my music files it
says that it cannot decrypt the files. Is there a way around this?Hi, I just a search and entered into google "wma mp3 shareware"
I found a few different ones... This should be what you are looking for:
