Card reader supported by XBMC

  • Can anyone list the USB card readers that are supported by XBMC. I have bought a trust 61-in-1 card reader (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Trust-EasyConnect-USB2-Reader-CR-1610p/dp/B000LPS62I) which failed to mount in XBMC.

I wonder which readily available USB card readers can be used in XBMC. I basically need to read SD cards and memory stick pro duo.

  • supported and tested are two different things, it is a wiki and unless you, the users, list what you have tested then it will never be a complete list

  • Thanks for your reply. I did actually read the manual but I didn't believe only two multi-card readers are supported by XBMC:

    1) HAMA 32in1 Card Reader, USB 2.0 Hub (supports: CF I/II, MemoryStick, SecureDigital, MMC & xD) Tested: Sandisk SecureDigital 512MB (NOTE: only 1 USB port in Hub works with XBMC)

    2) Sandisk imagemate 12 in 1 card reader (supports: memory stick pro duo 1GB and 2GB)

Does it mean that HAMA35in1 might not be supported?

I was also hoping that other users have tested and will share any successful devices that are supported.

  • But Sandisk Imagemate 12-in-1 was on the list of supported memory card readers:

    USB Memory Card Readers
Note! Only one memory-card/storage/device at a time can be connected to a Memory Card Reader when testing:

Lexar JumpDrive Trio SD Memory Stick adapter, (supported memory-cards: SD and Sony Memory-Stick). Sizes tested: 256MB

SIIG CF Card Reader (supported memory-cards: Compact Flash)

HAMA 32in1 Card Reader, USB 2.0 Hub (supports: CF I/II, MemoryStick, SecureDigital, MMC & xD) Tested: Sandisk SecureDigital 512MB (NOTE: only 1 USB port in Hub works with XBMC)

Sandisk imagemate 12 in 1 card reader (supports: memory stick pro duo 1GB and 2GB)

  • you should know to ALWAYS read our manual before asking a question

  • You are not doing anything wrong. If you got the latest SVN build of XBMC and a USB memory device do not work then the Xbox do not support it and thus you can not use it, simple as that. Nothing YOU can do about that. You can read on why that is here => http://xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/index.php?title=USB_Mass_Storage_support_in_XBMC

  • I have bought the Sandisk imagemate 12-in-1 but XBMC still is "unable to mount"!!!!

What am I doing wrong? I am using a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo 2Gb. I tried plugging in Sandisk with memory card in slot and also tried plugging in Sandisk without any cards in slor, then inserting the Memory STick.

    All is unsuccessful.

  • That means someone got it to work in XBMC.

Are you using the very latest SVN build of XBMC (google "T3CH XBMC")?, and can you post a debug log (see the onine manual)

  • I am not using the latest SVN, but T3CH XBMC 2007-08-19 SVN 9999.

I will post a debug log later. Thanks anyway.
