Can I still be an atheist, even though I've met God?

  • She's really sweet. And I'm pretty sure she doesn't have fleas...

Also, is it a sin for someone to name their dog God?

    :-P

  • If you "met" God you cannot serve two masters as the Bible says; either you serve one or the other.
There is a chance that atheist can turn around if that person is sincere and accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior with their sins forgiving.

  • Sure.

If it's not a sin for that lady to name her son God Shammgod, then it's probably not a sin to name your dog God.

  • That will confuse dyslexics

  • Unfortunately, you have met the god of Monty Python, ... NOT the REAL GOD Who rules this universe and causes ALL (including *you*) to reap what you have sown.

    not a nice question.

  • that's awesome.

  • My god has more zeroes than yours.

  • When we come into contact with the divine the experience leaves our senses inundated as they are clearly not equiped to deal with such a phenomenon. At a time like this it becomes vital to open our heart, drain it of every other ambition, aspiration, desire and then store in it the image of the Lord as it is revealed to us.
In the ensuing days when we return to our more mortal surroundings it is the memory of this image that will serve to retain the divine touch in our life. Keeping in constant touch with the divine will eventually lead to divinising our senses of perception and forever thence everything that the senses perceive will begin to appear sublime and the intellect and the senses readily accept the existence of God.
However if this is not done the heart is soon cluttered with unfulfilled desires which it now aspires to fulfill and the image of the Lord soon becomes a distant memory. The sensory organs then take charge and pull you further away into a world of desires. At one point the intellect reinterpretes the meeting with the God as a mere hallucination and we stand the ultimate risk of alienating ourselves totally from our most elevated hour of consciousness.
Please note it is always the heart that remembers, not the mind.
As for the other question, if you name your dog after God out of love and not out of contempt please go ahead and do so, it will only make you remember the Lord every time you see your dog. However I dont think the people around you will take to it kindly. Try to be more practical.

  • The owner was dyslectic and uncreative, wasn't he/she?!

Oh, and yes... you can still be an atheist. ;)

  • Well, an athiest is someone who doesn't believe in God, so technically, no. It also depends if you have Jesus in your heart. If you're just going through the motions and saying that you believe in God, why say you're a Christian? In order to be a true Christian, you must accept Jesus into your heart and you must have a true relationship with him so that you can live with him eternally! :-)

  • as an atheist pagan, you've met the gods, and they don't expect you to believe in them. and if people can name their dog zeus, god is fair game. but... how would you like to be the person who has to pick up god's doo-doo?

spank god on the @$$ for me next time you see her.

  • I hate dogs, and I'm an atheist.

    Am I a bad person?

  • Hehehe. Maybe an Agnostic. You met her, and a relatively certain of her divine nature, however.... (Question A, B, C and D arise from your experiencial knowledge)

  • no is not a sin but i see it as very disrespectful

  • Same letters and value. Is a god to live in a dog?

  • If you had truly met God you would not joke in this way.

  • You can be an atheist ESPECIALLY if you've met god and choose to remain an atheist. All Hail Dorothy.
