This is a repost to my "Any moral atheists?" posting. Many people answered my question and I realized it was not worded right. lol I hope this offends less people.
I'd like to meet someone who prefers NOT to live the following way....
Sleep with people without being in love or a committed relationship.
Go to bars and get drunk.
Use foul language.
Smoke weed.
Bash people of other religions or races.
So...if anyone does NOT do these things...can I meet you?Aw, ****, if only i didn't use foul language I would be perfect. Well, there's the drinking too. ****.I do not most of those things. I do curse occasionally, and I cannot help but poke fun at people who have imaginary friends.
I do not have sex outside a committed relationship, nor do anything which could alter my rationality, such as drugs or alcohol.
However, this is not because I view these things are immoral, simply personally distasteful. In my view, for something to be immoral, it has to cause tangible harm to someone.
Feel free to message me if you like.I do not do any of those. That is not because I am an atheist. I used to smoke 200 cigarettes a day. Gave it up more than forty years back. I would have done all that even if i were a fervent Hindu.
A personal code of conduct does not have anything to do with religious belief. Most people don't do any of those
I don't
You can email me if you like
But you know a lot of those people who do those things, aren't necessarily bad people
Especially the foul language one, that's being a little too picky
I would probably just not accept the bashing of others
Everything else, I don't think affects who they are as a person
I might respect them a little less if they're doing stupid things, but I wouldn't immediately reject themI don't do any of them, but I don't meet people on the Internet either.I don't do any of those including use foul language and I'm a straight out aethiest that has morals. (or i believe so) and still a teen so I don't want to meet a strangerWell, I might fit that bill. I don't bash relgions or races, although is religious discussions okay? I like to talk about difference in theological opinion in different religions (with those people). I find it interesting, although I don't push my opinions on them. Please feel free to email me. (I don't sleep with people, commited relationship or not, I don't drink or do druges and my refusal to curse is infamous at my old high school (a dagummit, anyone?))Why would you not want to do those things? They're so fun! Perhaps you hold some beliefs eh?I'm atheist and don't sleep around, don't use foul language don't smoke weed or bash people, it has nothing to do with me being atheist, it's just the way I am. I don't take drugs or not drink because of health reasons, I just don't feel like it. I have plenty of theist friends that do all the things you have mentioned, but plenty of friends that don'tSorry, I do engage in religious bashing every now and again, but only when their ignorance tempts me.I don't do any of that stuff, but I don't need any new friends, my job owns my soul and all my time...and I'm too tired to make an honest effort at friendship...because I would just let you down.Don't take it the wrong way though.....you'll find someone with some free time.uh im atheist and i dont do this stuff
but im a kid.
ha ha
whats wrong with foul language???People all have different ideas of what is moral and whats not, its only bad when you try to force your morals on others. Fortunately in America we all have the unalienable right to the pursuit of happiness. If people are happy not having premarital sex or drinking or doing all those other pleasurable activities that the "virtuous'" deny themselves thats fine. Just as it should be fine with them if others try to pursue happiness their own way.
EDIT
Wow do people like darkness hates light bug me. Morality is all relative, as long as you're not hurting anyone else you should be able to do whatever you want, that includes consensual acts with other people.Well I fail on two accounts.. I smoke weed and I use foul language. I guess you can't look past some things as superficial as that.
If you think my foul language and recreational drug use defines who I am as a person... well your loss not mine!
I'd like to add something, a life lesson if you will. I have learned that you should look for the good in every person. I know many people who do things that I do not agree with, or live their life differently than I do. But I still find the good in them and the common ground we both stand upon to build from there. You won't get very far in life if you narrow the scope of your friendships so far. There are promiscuous, cursing, bar hopping pot heads who are generally good, fun and interesting people.. You would benefit from keeping an open mind and finding the good in people, instead of focusing on what to you would be considered "bad".I live pretty straight edge but I don't wanna meet you. Sorry.NO.Meet me? No.
Email me? Yes.Is this the part were we meet in a hotel and you bum-rape me?You will probably never find anyone like that (who's cool, at least), because atheists, for the most part, get rid of morality when they get rid of God. Cool people tend to not care about morals, so the only people you'll end up with are boring ones who don't do it - not because they choose not to, but because they never had the opportunity to.
Who defines morals for atheists? Is it what feels good? Is it the utilitarian concept?
Just saying, it's MUCH harder to be a moral atheist than a moral Christian (using the definition of Christian morality, at least).any atheists? bash "OTHER" religions?
is atheism a religion?
personally, i think people are either good or not. I dont think their religion influences that.
i dont think how often a person goes to a bar and gets drunk indicates whether or not they are 'moral'... sober, sure... but not moral.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
