A way to reduce search by time?

  • I'm going through some real growing pains because my server has 400,000+ threads and well over 2 million posts.

    The main issue is the vB Search. I have moved over to Sphnix search, but that has a lot off issues as well.

    Is there a way for the search to only go back say 180 days? 90 days? I'm looking for the best way to reduce the search to recent threads WITHOUT having to delete then entirely! Any help would be appreciated as the search is taking down my site! Even with a Dual Quad Core 2.5 GHZ processor and 6 GB of RAM I'm having serious issues due to search.

  • You can limit this by results but not days:

    Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Message Searching Options -> Maximum Search Results to Return


  • Yes, the higher the number the worse the performance and the more server resources are used.
