Table cosmetics

  • Hello all!!

Ok, putting in a table in a doc and so far I've got it to the size and such that is reasonably ok. This table and the data therein represents the standard mean of gestational data. If the patient is outside the 'mean' then that is a problem and needs to be addressed.

Now, the boss wants a group of dots to appear in each cell, so that when he and the rest of the staff are comparing the patient's data to the 'mean' data, and the cm measurement is, for example, 3.7 then they can go to the 3.5 line and count 2 dots past that and go over. Each cell needs to have 4 dots up and 6 across.

I do not want to do this manually. This table , which looks like a graph when done , has other fill in the blank data under it so the table doesn't use the whole page.

I tried a prelim chart in Excel and got nowhere.

Should I try a different program?? Other than connecting about 420 small text boxes in the pattern desired, I am sooooooo lost!

    Any suggestions??

  • Did you ever get this resolved? I'm so embarrassed that your question has sat here so long.

If you still need help, is it possible for you to hand draw a sample of what you're looking for, scan it and email it to me, or fax it to me?

I cannot even begin to make out what you mean, but I know tables and I know charts, so maybe we can figure something out for you.

  • Sure.
Email what you want, fax what you can.
    Yes, it's my fax number.

  • Dreamboat, Hi!!

No, still in the dark on this one, but 14 other things have kept me from continuing with this project, so the boss will just have to understand. Actually, if each cell can have 4 dots vertically and 3 horizontally, that should serve just as well

In Duhhh!!-ville today. I'll draw something better than what I have below and send you an E with it attached.

This is a rudimentary rendering of 2 sample cells of what I am after.....

Hope this is helpful, and I'll also send you the info by E.

    Greatly Appreciate the help!!

  • E on it's way.

    Thanks again!!

  • Well, apparently all I had to do was ask questions about this today and the recesses of my brain helped me out. Did not EVEN think of this when I posted. :irked:

This is what I did :::: I made sure each row and column were .25" in width and height , then centered each cell vertically and horizontally. Also made sure the margins for each cell were 0 all around. Now the dots. They are sized at TNR, 4pt and made with the shortcut , Alt+0149 , with a little tweaking to make sure it looks right when printed. I did 4 dots vertically and 3 dots horizontally. Once I got one row, then I just copied to the rest.

The boss is pleased, now I just have to fit the rest of the items in that space. There are 2 other small graphs that need to overlay the larger `graph`. And he's getting me the info so that the curves can be drawn from point to point on the major `graph.`

Thank you , Thank you , Thank you to Dreamboat for helping me find the answers I didn't know I had.
