need a little advice

  • hi,

i am melanie, born in germany.
at the moment i am travelling australia, NZ is next :)

i finished school in 1998, ai am 27 now.
    i wondered studying graphic design.
since there are exames to get in,
    i never tried...

now, that i am older and wiser,
knowing that i ve been always interested
in photos (eg collecting ads out of magazines)
and taking photos (of pretty much everything,
    some i even like :),
    loving photoshop,
i seriously wonder to "become" a photographer.

    some photographers didnt even study,
but i ve got the feeling it may good for me
(need someone kickin my ... to learn).

i tried to search the internet for universities and so on.
but since i ve had bad experiences with schools an teachers
i dont know how to find out
what s the best university and the best course.

so if anyone could help me
finding the best way at least into the direction i wanna go..

    THANKS,
    melanie

  • thanks, iŽll have a look :)

  • Hello Melanie, welcome to TPF. You'll find that many people here will help with ideas. Also do a TPF search about schools, you'll get some ideas from them. Glad to have you aboard.

  • If you have the time, I like the idea of being an apprentice to a local photographer. It is a great way to get first hand experience and build a network of people who can be of great help in the future. The first step would be to build a portfolio.

  • Instead of classes at a school, you might want to try some workshops. They can still be like a class, but they usually have a lot more personal involvement. You do more, rather than just sit and listen.
You could also see about becoming an apprentice to a local photographer.
